Webcast & Technical Requirements

It is very simple....for you and your team to participate in the live interactive webcast quiz portion of the 2010 Reserve Cup Challenge all you are required to have is a computer with a high speed internet connection. Internet Explorer is the preferred browser but other browsers will work.

• The webcast is best viewed on a PC with Internet Explorer and Windows Media Player to view the webcast.

• You will also need a high speed internet connection (DSL or Cable).

• Please disable any pop-up blockers.

• The presentation will be broadcasting at 200Kbps. In order for you to not exceed the available bandwidth of your Internet connection, this means that only one or two computers per school should be logged on at any given time. Otherwise, the video could be choppy.

This year's Reserve Cup Challenge promises to be the biggest and best yet. Due to the amazing success and popularity of this high school-based financially literacy contest and its webcasts, the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston is proud to be expanding its' reach and participation.

For four years now, each November, representative high schools, one from each New England state, have assembled in the auditorium of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston to compete for the Reserve Cup. The student teams participate in a quiz show format that tests their knowledge in a variety of financial matters specifically financial literacy, economic education, and personal finance.

The competition, hosted by television and radio personality, Billy Costa, is conducted in front of a studio audience of fellow students, and is video-taped for a future broadcast.

Like last year, the Reserve Cup Challenge will also be turning to internet technology to increase student involvement. We will be looking for 15 high school teams from each of five New England states to register to participate in elimination rounds that will eventually produce the state's representative team at this year's Reserve Cup Championship in Boston.

Here's how it will work. Once your state quota of 15 teams have registered via the
Registration Form on this website, your team will then participate in a scheduled live interactive web cast quiz event (see Schedule for details).

We will ask your team 10 multiple choice questions on the topic of financial literacy each worth 10 points, the top five teams will then move on to the semi-final event.

The semi-final event will also be a live interactive webcast quiz, and once again, we will ask your team 10 multiple choice questions on the topic of financial literacy, each worth 10 points, with the team scoring the most points going on to represent your state in the 2010 Reserve Cup Challenge Championship!

Assemble Your Team

Teachers...if you are interested in having a student team from your school participate in the 2010 Reserve Cup Challenge please register today!

Each team will be comprised of 4 students and 1 alternate (a replacement in case a team member becomes sick or is unable to attend any Cup event). Additionally, a teacher must sign up to supervise the students and, if need be, accompany them to the Championship in Boston.

Remember, your team will have to participate in potentially two live web-based Quiz events, and if your team advances, the Championship in Boston.

Questions which will be posed to participating teams in the 2010 Reserve Cup Challenge will cover a variety of financial matters specifically financial literacy, economic education, and personal finance. Study up and be ready!

NOTE: We will be closing registration off at 15 schools per state. So, if you wish to have your students participate, we encourage you to sign-up today! Once your registration has been accepted you will be notified by e-mail and your team listed on this web site.

Official deadline for Registration is: September 30, 2010.
