This year's Reserve Cup Challenge promises to be the biggest and best yet. Due to the amazing success and popularity of this high school-based financially literacy contest, the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston is proud to be expanding its' reach and participation.

For three years now, each November, representative high schools, one from each New England state, have assembled in the auditorium of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston to compete for the Reserve Cup. The student teams participate in a quiz show format that tests their knowledge in a variety of financial matters ranging from financial literacy to economics to personal finance.

This year, the Reserve Cup Challenge will also be turning to internet technology to increase student involvement. We will be looking for 10 high school teams from each of five New England states to register to participate in elimination rounds that will eventually produce the state's representative team at this year's Reserve Cup Championship in Boston.

Here's how it will work. Once your state quota of 10 teams have registered via this web site, your team will then participate in a scheduled live interactive web cast quiz event (see Schedule for details). We will ask your team 10 multiple choice questions on the topic of financial literacy each worth 10 points, the five teams scoring best will then move on to the semi-final event.

The semi-final event will also be a live interactive webcast quiz, and once again, we will ask your team 10 multiple choice questions on the topic of financial literacy, each worth 10 points, with the team scoring the most points going on to represent your state in the 2009 Reserve Cup Challenge Championship!

Please view our "How It Will Work" Video for a quick and thorough briefing on the 2009 Reserve Cup Challenge Tournament.
The competition, hosted by television and radio personality, Billy Costa, is conducted in front of a studio audience of fellow students, and is video-taped for future broadcast on our region's most popular news station, New England Cable News (NECN).
Event #1
All 10 schools from your state will participate in a multiple choice quiz webcast live on the Internet. The live quiz will consist of ten questions and each team will have one minute to summit their answer to each question via the internet. Each question will be worth 10 points.

The five teams that score the most points will advance to the semi-finals. The webcast should take no-longer than 30 minutes total.

The scores and standings will be posted the next day on the ReserveCup.org site.
Event #2
Half of the remaining schools from your state will again participate in a multiple choice quiz webcast live on the Internet. The live quiz will again consist of ten questions and each team will have one minute to summit their answer to each question via the internet. Again, each question will be worth 10 points.

The TEAM that scores the most points will advance to represent YOUR state at the 2009 Reserve Cup Challenge Championship at the Federal Reserve Bank in Boston! The webcast should take no-longer than 30 minutes total.

The scores and standings will be posted the next day on the ReserveCup.org site.
Event #3
6 teams from the 6 New England states will meet at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston to do battle on the topics of financial literacy and economics to see who will emerge as the 2009 Reserve Cup Challenge Champion!
